Kids 5 to 18 years old, join us for a new season of Chess Club

have lots of experience, you'll find helpful instruction and friends to
play with.
You'll learn general rules, how pieces move, strategies, how to get checkmate ... and then play chess!
The program is free, and offered at the Decatur Public Library in partnership with 4-H, University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service. 4-H membership is not required. Please register in advance through the 4-H website: go.illinois.edu/DPLchess. (Even if you've participated previously, register for this new session.)
Our program leader is Ben Steele, educator with the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension 4-H program. Ben was a teacher for 21 years and has years of experience organizing school chess clubs and tournaments. If you have questions about the program, you can contact Ben at bsteele2@illinois.edu, or call 217-877-6042.
