Students 4th grade & up, would you like to have a book discussion
with a friendly border collie named Lady Mary? Join Lady Mary and
educator Kim Schwalbach from PUPS (People Understanding Pets) as you discuss the book The One and Only Ruby, by Katherine Applegate, and make an art project based on it.
Plot summary: In this sequel to The One And Only Bob,
Ruby now lives in a wildlife sanctuary. In this novel in verse, Ruby
recounts to Ivan and Bob the time she spent in the African savanna.
Monday, February 3 -- We'll discuss the book.
Monday, February 10 -- We'll make an art project.
Roll up your sleeves, get creative, and dive into homemade playdough!
We'll each make our own sculpture of Ruby the elephant.
Each participant will receive a free copy of the book to keep.
Space is limited. Advance registration required. Participants are registering to attend both sessions.
After registration, come to the Children's Desk at the Decatur Public
Library to pick up your free copy of the book, so you can read it before the discussion on January 6. (The book is also available in print and audiobook in our library catalog, and as e-book or digital audiobook on hoopla.)

The program will be led by Humane Educator Kim Schwalbach from the Decatur & Macon County Animal Shelter Foundation.
