Children's Summer Reading Challenge 2025
Highest enrollment since 1997!
Wow! We had 1,677 kids enrolled in our 2025 Children's Summer Reading Challenge -- the most since 1997!
Even more amazing is that 752 of them completed all 5 levels of the Challenge and came in to pick up their rewards! That the highest number of finishers we've had since at least as far back as 2005.
Other statistics:
- Kids logged 32,956 reading days this summer (up 10% from last summer)!
- Thanks to our Decatur-area sponsors, these kids earned 9,322 coupons for all sorts of tasty treats -- a value of over $30,500! (Be sure to thank our sponsors listed below.)
- Kids earned 6,414 other reading rewards, including free books, bookmarks, book bags, toys, tattoos, craft kits, and other fun stuff.
- 64 kids won a free Summer Reading Challenge t-shirt in our t-shirt drawing.
- We had 51 different kids' programs at the library this summer, with a total of 3,156 people in attendance (up 16% from 2024).
