Your generous financial gifts help us expand our outstanding offerings to the community.
Giving a gift to the library to purchase books or audiovisual materials is a great way to remember a relative or friend, or simply to show your appreciation to the library.
How Your Donations Help
Decatur Public Library is a taxpayer supported organization that has experienced shrinking revenues in recent years, while experiencing a growing demand for our materials and services. Because of the generosity of donors like you, the library, in recent years, has been able to increase the size of its large print book collection, build a new local history room, and add state-of-the-art checkout, security, and check-in equipment that adds convenience for the patrons and efficiency for staff. Almost every library class or event is funded by donations.
Memorials and Honors
The whole procedure is simple and your contribution may be tax deductible. Just complete the Memorial Gift form and bring or mail it to the library. We’ll do the rest. The library will send a letter of acknowledgement in the donor’s name to the family of the deceased or to the person you wish to honor. A book plate will be placed in each gift.
Checks should be made payable to the “Decatur Public Library.” Every effort will be made to process the material as soon as possible.
It is simple to donate to the library! You can donate by visiting the library administrative offices on the second floor or the checkout desk after 5:00 p.m. and on Saturdays. If you have a preference for how your donation will be used, please make note of that at the time of donation.
If you want your donation to be used to:
- Purchase a book or other materials, please donate to Decatur Public Library.
- Go toward equipment or other big ticket services, please donate to the Decatur Public Library Foundation.
- Support library events and programs, please donate to the Friends of the Decatur Public Library.
