Super Science Programs

Explore fun (and sometimes messy) science! For kids going into 2nd through 7th grades

What: Super Science Programs
Who: Kids going into 2nd through 7th grades
Where: Children's Auditorium, Decatur Public Library

Join us this summer for these Super Science programs, where kids can explore science concepts AND make some fun experiments to take home.

All programs have limited enrollment due to supplies, and require advance registration. If the program is full, you can get on the Waiting List. If you register and find you cannot attend, please call (217-424-2900 ext 5) or email us (childrens@decaturlibrary.org) as soon as possible so we can open your spot for someone on the waiting list.

Plan to wear "paint clothes" -- what you might wear if you were painting at school and might get a little messy.

You will receive an email confirmation of your registration, but it may take a little time. Also, be sure to check your spam folder.

Our leader for Super Science is Cheryl Higgs, former middle school science teacher and chemist.

Slime 3 Ways
Friday, June 23, 10 a.m. OR 2 p.m.

What is slime? How do you make it? We'll experiment with different combinations, and everyone will make glitter slime, foam slime, and glow-in-the-dark slime to take home. Program will be presented twice. Please register for just one.

Colorful Chemistry
Friday, July 14, 10 a.m. OR 2 p.m.

We'll experiment with different ways to use, combine, and spread colors. We'll make Magic Milk, a Skittles Rainbow, and everyone will make their own "lava lamps" and chromatography flowers or butterflies to take home. Program will be presented twice. Please register for just one.
